Gallery Terms and Fees for Studio of 5 Rings

All submitted artworks must be for sale.
Commissions: the Studio of 5 Rings will set the final sale price by adding a commission to the original price. The sales price is at the sole discretion of the Studio of 5 Rings.
Virtual Gallery Space: artists may elect to display their artworks in our virtual venues only. The Studio of 5 Rings will set the final sale price.
Condition of Artwork Prior to Display at our Venue: All artworks must be in saleable condition and professionally presented. The artwork must be ready to present in our venue before delivering it to the premises. For example, paintings and photographs must be matted or framed. Failure to have artworks prepared will result in rejection of unprepared pieces or rejection of the entire show, based on the judgment of the Studio of 5 Rings staff.
Inventory of Artwork: The artist must present a complete inventory of the work to be presented. If the artist brings artwork that has not been approved, the Studio of 5 Rings reserves the right to reject unapproved pieces.
Mailing Lists: The Artist will supply the Studio of 5 Rings with a copy of their mailing list and e-mail list.
Non-Compete Agreement: the Artist agrees to enter into a non-compete contract in which the artist agrees not to sell work that is on display at a Studio of 5 Rings venue. It is understood that the Studio of 5 Rings will have the sole rights to sell, conduct the transactions, collect payment and transfer ownership of all artworks on display at any Studio of 5 Rings venue. If a client makes an inquiry to the artist regarding prices, terms, etc., the artist is to refer the client immediately to Studio of 5 Rings Staff. This agreement begins on the date the work is displayed at such venue, and it ends 120 days after the work is no longer displayed.
Insurance of Artworks: The Studio of 5 Rings does not carry insurance against losses for items on consignment. It is recommended that you check with your home-owner's insurance to make sure that your artwork is insured against losses.
Transfer of Ownership: The Artist agrees to allow the Studio of 5 Rings to transfer ownership from the artist to a third party. The transfer takes place only after the Studio of 5 Rings has concluded a sale and has received payment in full from the third party. If any artwork has been leased to a third party, there is no transfer of ownership.
Payment to the Artist:
- At the end of the period we show work for the artist, the Studio of 5 Rings will pay the artist the agreed amount for all artworks sold from the Studio of 5 Rings. The payment will be made in the form of a check which will be paid to the artist up to two weeks after the show ends.
- In cases where artwork is sold on an Internet venue, the check will be sent within two weeks after payment is received from customer.
Artists may elect to keep their artworks on display in our Internet venue after the artwork showing has ended; the non-compete agreement, however, remains in effect.
To ensure the quality of the images on our web site, the Studio of 5 Rings will generate the digital images for the purposes of placing those images in our virtual galleries.

Artist - Person who created an original artwork and the person empowered to control copies of the original artwork.
Studio of 5 Rings - Entity that markets, sells, and transfers ownership of artwork and maintains venues to display artwork.
Original Price - The Artist will supply a list of original prices for artwork prior to displaying work. The Studio of 5 Rings may make adjustment recommendations based on the artwork and / or market expectations.
Final Sale Price - This is the price at which artworks are sold at Studio of 5 Rings venues.
Venue - Place for displaying artworks. This can be a physical location or a virtual location on the Internet. The physical location can either be the permanent business address for the Studio of 5 Rings, a temporary location secured by the Studio of 5 Rings, or it can be on display in a lease program.
Artwork Showing - Includes preparing the space for display, placing artworks on display, conducting an opening reception, maintaining the venue for a period of time and dismantling the display at the end of the showing.

Terms and Fees listed here are subject to change without notice. Print this page and submit a signed copy to the Studio of 5 Rings after your artworks are accepted.
