Dagmar was born in Germany
and came to the US with her parents in 1950. In 1954, her
father began a family photography business, Ohio Color, Inc. in
Youngstown, OH. Dagmar grew up in the business, learning photography,
film developing and the aspects of running the business. In
1988, Dagmar took over Ohio Color, Inc.
In the field of fine
arts, Dagmar has become adept in several media:
- Photography: Black & white and color photos as
well as slides. She uses small, medium and large format
photography to give her art the largest range of flexibility,
creativity and quality possible.
- Watercolor: Studying under Tom Haverfield, Dagmar has
developed her own style which she uses to show her audience brilliant
perspectives of landscape, still life and captured fleeting moments
in our lives that are the most touching.
- Poetry: Dagmar is a prolific writer and has had
many of her works published. Most notable is her own book,
entitled Skybird.
Her fine art has been
displayed in venues including (but not limited to) the following:

- Youngstown Playhouse - Youngstown, OH
- Lock 24 - Lisbon, OH
- Ford Nature Center - Youngstown, OH
- Cleveland Museum of Art - Cleveland, OH

She has awards from

- Leonard Shugar Award
- Mill Creek Park Photo Competition
- Youngstown Junior League Competition
- Cleveland Museum of Art's Fine Photo Competition
- John Young Competition
- As part of the Washington 2000 celebration, her works on the
steel mills are found in the Library of Congress.
In addition to creating
her own art, Dagmar uses her talent to help future artists by conducting
workshops and classes in photography, water color and poetry.
